“Unfortunately, the mining industry in Azerbaijan has not developed to the required level due to both objective and subjective reasons.”
“Elchi” reports that President Ilham Aliyev said this at a meeting dedicated to the State Program on the development of the mining and metallurgical industry.
“The objective reasons are that many of our deposits discovered during the Soviet era were located in the occupied territories, and the Armenian state continued its policy of occupation, including the looting of the natural resources of the Azerbaijani people and state,” the head of state noted.
According to President Ilham Aliyev, Armenia destroyed 60 thousand hectares of forest fund in Kalbajar, Lachin and Zangilan districts during the occupation.
“It is enough to say that during the occupation, 60 thousand hectares of forest fund in Kalbajar, Lachin and Zangilan districts were destroyed, looted, cut down, sold by the Armenian state, and already burned after the Second Karabakh War, during the period when the Armenian armed forces had to withdraw from Kalbajar and Lachin districts, they were given 2-3 weeks there. Everyone remembers well that they were both destroying trees and did not forget about the plumbing. Apparently, there were two most valuable things for them: one was to completely destroy the nature of Azerbaijan, and the second was to take the most valuable plumbing fixtures with them. That is probably the main legacy of that occupation period for them,” the President of Azerbaijan emphasized.
