Extreme heat in the country has claimed the lives of more than 8,000 people

It is reported that more than 8,000 people have lost their lives due to extreme heat observed in France since May.
“Elchi” reports that extreme heat in France this summer has caused the deaths of more than 8,000 people.
According to data from the French Public Health Agency, four separate heatwaves have been observed in the country since May.
During the last heatwave, which lasted from July 27 to August 20, 817 additional deaths were recorded in 79 departments of the country.
As a result, the total number of additional deaths recorded during the four heatwaves since May has approached 8,000.
Previously, it was announced that this figure was 1,243 during the heatwave that lasted from July 3 to July 22.
The Public Health Agency calculates the number of additional deaths during heatwaves based on a specific methodology.
To determine the number of additional deaths, the agency subtracts the average number of deaths expected under normal conditions from the total number of deaths recorded during the extreme heat period.
By calculating the number of additional deaths, the country assesses the impact of events such as epidemics and heatwaves on public health and mortality rates.
France experienced its hottest July this year since temperature records began in 1900; the average temperature rose to 24.9 degrees Celsius.
July, which saw 70 percent less rainfall, went down in history as the third driest July since records began.
