The Baku Declaration has been adopted at the 7th Meeting of Muslim Religious Leaders of the Organization of Turkic States.
“Elchi” reports that the declaration was read by Salman Musayev, First Deputy Chairman of the Caucasus Muslims Office (CMO).
It was stated that the Council of Muslim Religious Leaders of the OTS, based on international legal norms and the principles of the OTS, continues to make joint efforts to prevent tendencies of terrorism, extremism, separatism, xenophobia, Islamophobia, Turkophobia, takfirism, inter-sectarian discrimination, and hate speech.
It was noted that the Council of Muslim Religious Leaders of the OTS strives to utilize the potential of Turkic-Islamic spirituality and culture to strengthen peace and prosperity in the world, promote its values globally, and educate the youth. It assists in the organization of joint scientific conferences and the creation of religious centers to improve religious education and national self-awareness. It encourages the exchange of students, teachers, literature, and experience, as well as the development of religious and scientific research to pass on traditional moral values to the emerging generation. It directs its activities toward preparing relevant joint projects for the development, enrichment, and effectiveness of Turkic-Islamic culture, continues the work of jointly determining the initial dates of national and religious holidays, especially Ramadan and Eid al-Adha, taking into account specific features, and, most importantly, continues the development of joint fatwas serving the principles of moderate Islam and inter-sectarian understanding.
It was also emphasized that the Council of Muslim Religious Leaders of the OTS, in accordance with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, cooperates in the promotion and protection of human rights, including the rights of women and children. It strives to hold religious and educational events for women, youth, and children in line with Turkic-Islamic moral values, conduct mutual exchanges in this field, and create conditions for the religious education of women and the younger generation in accordance with the requirements of the era. It continues its joint efforts to prevent cases of foreign interference, harmful propaganda, sectarianism, and any ideological provocations in the religious and spiritual environment of Turkic states.
It continues cooperation in the field of translating religious literature and religious studies into the languages of Turkic states and promoting them in accordance with legislation and national traditions, as well as organizing joint training seminars, conferences, symposiums, and other events with the aim of exchanging and developing relevant methodologies and tools. It encourages cooperation in the study of the history of the Turkic world and its instillation in the younger generation, as well as strives for the joint visitation and organization of tours to religious and historical sites in OTS member countries and their promotion at the international level.
The heads of delegations highly appreciate the valuable contribution of the Secretary General of the OTS, His Excellency Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, to the activities of the Council of Muslim Religious Leaders of the Organization of Turkic States and, noting the completion of his term, wish him success in his future endeavors.
The heads of delegations express their deep gratitude to the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, His Excellency Mr. Ilham Aliyev, and the Government of Azerbaijan for the high-level organization of the 7th Meeting and the sincere hospitality shown to all participants, as well as to the Secretariat of the Organization of Turkic States for its valuable contribution to the preparation and coordination process.
