37 percent of 15-year-old students in Azerbaijan do not attend school for at least one day within two weeks.
“Elchi” reports that this is noted in the results of the OECD’s PISA 2025 study for Azerbaijan.
The survey covered the two weeks prior to the PISA exam. In OECD countries, the average share of students who did not attend school for at least one day during that period was 22 percent.
Thus, the rate of skipping classes in Azerbaijan is 15 percentage points higher than the OECD average.
43 percent of Azerbaijani students reported missing at least one class within two weeks. The corresponding figure in OECD countries is 24 percent.
55 percent of students were late for school at least once during the same period. The average for the OECD was 50 percent.
According to the results, approximately 4 out of every 10 students in Azerbaijan skipped school for at least one day, and more than 4 skipped individual classes. More than one in every two students was late for school.
