An Iraqi court has sentenced three individuals who fired rockets at a military base near the city of Kirkuk in the north of the country. At the time of the attack, a French contingent serving as part of the international coalition was stationed at that base.
“Elchi” reports that this was stated in the decision of the criminal court of the Al-Karkh district of Baghdad.
“The Al-Karkh court found the three prisoners guilty of firing rockets at the ‘K-1’ airbase and the group of French soldiers located on its territory. Each of the accused has been sentenced to 15 years in prison,” the judicial authority noted.
The court decision explains that in the spring of 2026, the accused participated in launching rockets at the ‘K-1’ camp with the aim of undermining security and stability in the country and creating panic among the population. Those rockets landed near the group of French soldiers from the international coalition. The verdict of the Al-Karkh court was issued in accordance with Iraq’s Counter-Terrorism Law.
