Qatar’s Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani discussed the creation of a temporary shipping corridor in the Strait of Hormuz during a meeting with Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.

“The meeting also discussed current issues related to proposed phased steps, including the creation of a temporary joint shipping corridor in the Strait of Hormuz, as well as a joint project for demining the strait,” the statement noted.
In addition, the parties emphasized “the importance of continuing diplomatic efforts to reduce tensions and resolve differences through dialogue.”
