Latvian Interior Ministry advises citizens against traveling to Belarus

The Latvian authorities have appealed to the citizens of the Baltic republic, urging them to refrain from traveling to neighboring Belarus.

elchi reports that the country’s Minister of the Interior, Janis Dombrava, made this appeal.

“I recommend that Latvian residents abandon plans to travel to Belarus or, if you are already there, return,” he wrote on the “X” social network.

As the reason for this, the minister pointed to the hybrid migration war allegedly initiated by Belarus, where illegal migrants from Asian and African countries regularly attempt to cross from Belarusian territory into Latvia. According to the head of the agency, under such circumstances, “safe travel between the countries could become difficult.”
