The US National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) is establishing an American base on Earth’s natural satellite
“Elchi” reports that this was stated by Bloomberg citing its sources.
According to the information, such a step coincides with a period when the space industry is struggling with a shortage of launch vehicles against the background of rapidly growing demand. “We are considering the possibility of a massive procurement of launch vehicles by NASA that can meet all the needs of the lunar base. In the near future, we will probably announce the first package of such procurements,” Carlos Garcia-Galan, head of NASA’s lunar base program, told the agency.
It is noted that already in 2029, the space agency will need launch vehicles capable of delivering about 60 tons of equipment to the Moon for the construction of power systems, residential modules, and other infrastructure necessary for human habitation there.
In May of this year, NASA announced plans to deploy an American manned station from the Moon by 2032.
