An official announcement regarding the disbandment of units within the “Syrian Democratic Forces” (SDF) and the abolition of the self-governance system they established in the territories they have controlled for over a decade is expected in the near future.
“Elchi” reports that the “Al Hadath” television channel provided this information, citing a source close to the Syrian government.
It was noted that the statement could be made at a press conference planned for early August.
According to the source, officials are likely to announce the dissolution of the SDF at a press conference that will be covered by both the state and the media. The event is expected to take place in early August, but the final date has not yet been set as preparations are ongoing.
The source noted that the timing of the press conference depends on the completion of administrative appointments in the Hasakah province and surrounding areas, as most district and regional leaders in these territories were recently appointed.
In addition, the official announcement could be delayed until the issue of the return of certain individuals to the Tel Abyad and Ras al-Ayn areas is resolved. According to the source, this is a condition put forward by the SDF and local authorities.
On Sunday, Syrian President Ahmed Al Sharaa stated in an interview with “Al Jazeera” that the implementation of the agreement with the SDF side is proceeding slower than expected, but expressed confidence that it will be successfully implemented.
