Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky is considering removing the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, Oleksandr Syrskyi, from his post.
This was reported in an article published by the Financial Times.
According to the information, Zelensky is trying to emerge from the biggest military management crisis of his presidency and is thinking about removing Syrskyi, who is known as the “butcher,” from his position.
According to an official source from Zelensky’s administration, the Ukrainian leader will hold a meeting this weekend to discuss the situation on the front line and listen to proposals regarding suitable candidates to lead the army.
The source stated that Zelensky is open to the idea of removing Syrskyi from his post, provided that a strong defensive line is maintained on the front and powers are transferred to a new commander without issues. However, no final decision has been made on this matter yet.
It should be noted that the removal of Ukraine’s Minister of Defense Mykhailo Fedorov from his post has caused protests and initial resignations in the army in the capital, Kyiv.
