Today, the presentation ceremony of the book “Migrations from Western Azerbaijan. Emigrants, memories, documents” by researcher, journalist, and PhD in History Dilgam Ahmad took place.
“Elchi” reports that a number of officials spoke at the presentation ceremony held at the Western Azerbaijan Community.
Aziz Alakbarli, Chairman of the Board of the Western Azerbaijan Community (WAC), stated in his speech that there are enough people of Azerbaijani and Western Azerbaijani origin living in Turkey, and they have not forgotten their history.
“They keep the names of their homelands alive in their surnames. People like Orhan Gencebay and Abbas Goycha keep the names of the places they belong to in their surnames. This is such a published book that we could not help but present it. It is a very valuable book. Dilgam Ahmad has chosen a topic that will have a sequel. We must own everything that is ours,” noted A. Alakbarli.
Mahira Huseynova, Vice-Rector for International Relations at the Azerbaijan State Pedagogical University (ASPU), Doctor of Philology, and Professor, stated that the book written by Dilgam Ahmad is worthy of applause because it is very important in conveying our voice to the world.
“I found the book very interesting. I haven’t read it yet, but I promise to read it line by line. If I cannot visit my grandfather’s grave, it means we must fight for it. This book is the most valuable contribution to this path. There is nothing as valuable as a book. It would be better if the book was also presented in Turkey and other places. Even if volumes were written on this topic, it is not a finished subject,” she emphasized.
Dilgam Ahmad stated that although the preparation of material for the book took more than a year, its production took place in a short time, i.e., 3-4 months.
According to him, the project book “Emigrants in America” will also be presented by the end of the year.
“The book is about emigrants who moved to America and will be in English. As for Western Azerbaijan specifically, I have other memories in my possession. They are written in Turkish. We will adapt them into the Azerbaijani language and publish them as a series,” emphasized D. Ahmad.
