“The Shusha Global Media Forum is a very successful initiative. Because this forum brings together officials and civil society representatives from various countries.”
elchi reports that this was stated by Latifa Akharbach, President of the High Authority for Audiovisual Communication (HACA) of the Kingdom of Morocco.
She stated that representatives from 53 countries have gathered at the forum to discuss a very important issue: “Here, we are discussing how to involve media and journalism in shaping an ecosystem and public environment that promotes a culture of peace and contributes to conflict prevention. From what I have seen here, as well as from President Ilham Aliyev’s speech, I conclude that dialogue is extremely important.”
Latifa Akharbach noted that the media is one of the main tools that shape people’s view of the world: “The media is like a window that allows people to see the world. However, as a result of the digital transformation taking place in the field of media and communication, this window is increasingly turning into an echo chamber, and we must be very careful about this. The Shusha Global Media Forum makes an important contribution to the formation of shared values and common principles. This forum reminds the international community that the media should not become a tool that fuels conflicts. One of the greatest dangers for all countries is that the media serves polarization and the spread of hate speech.” (apa)
