Azerbaijan and Kazakhstan play an important role in providing a significant portion of the associated gas supplied to the commodity gas market in Eurasia.
This is reported by “Elchi” with reference to the report of the Gas Exporting Countries Forum (GECF).
It is noted that the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli complex in Azerbaijan and large oil production projects such as Tengiz and Kashagan in Kazakhstan make significant contributions to the production of associated gas.
It is stated that, in general, Russia is the main source of associated gas supplied to the commodity gas market in Eurasia. This is due to the large volume of oil production in the country and its extensive hydrocarbon resource base. Associated gas production is concentrated in major oil-producing regions, including Western Siberia. Here, extensive oil and gas infrastructure ensures the collection, processing, and utilization of associated gas.
The region’s high oil production and developed gas infrastructure create opportunities for capturing associated gas and using it in various directions. Such gas can be used in domestic energy supply, industry, and for other productive purposes. This allows for increasing the value derived from oil production, as well as supporting gas supply in the region.
