Great Britain has concluded negotiations on participating in the European Union’s (EU) 90 billion euro loan program to support Ukraine.
“Elchi” reports, citing the European Commission, that this was stated in a joint statement by the EU and Great Britain.
The parties have signed an agreement paving the way for Great Britain’s participation in the financing mechanism. The statement noted that thanks to this, Ukraine will be able to purchase defense-related products from a wider range of manufacturers.
The loan provides for stable financial support to Ukraine over the next two years for both budgetary needs and defense expenditures. In June, 7.1 billion euros had already been allocated to Ukraine under the mechanism, with 3.2 billion euros directed to budget support and approximately 3.9 billion euros to defense spending.
The parties emphasized that the agreement demonstrates a shared commitment to supporting Ukraine, as well as strengthening ties between the defense-industrial complexes of the EU and Great Britain.
