Through a joint operation by Turkish and Somali military forces, the “MV Lutuf” ship, which had previously been seized by pirates, has been liberated.
elchi citing “Associated Press” reports that the Somali Ministry of Defense has released information regarding this matter.
“Under the constant pressure of our forces, the pirates were forced to abandon the ship. The military has full control over the situation on board the ‘MV Lutuf’. The ship has resumed its movement,” the agency noted.
During the 10-day operation near the northern regions of Somalia, four boats were destroyed and 14 pirates were neutralized. There have been no reports of casualties among the military personnel.
It should be recalled that on August 17, the Cameroon-flagged cargo ship was attacked in the Nugal region of Somalia’s Puntland state. There were 10 people on board: six Indian, two Serbian, and one citizen each from Turkey and Georgia.
