The Ukrainian army has hit approximately 28 Russian-owned ships in the Sea of Azov overnight.
“Elchi” reports that the Ukrainian Unmanned Systems Forces (USF) have released information regarding this.
USF commander Robert Brovdi stated that additional reconnaissance is currently underway and the final figure may increase.
Rostov region governor Yuri Slyusar confirmed that four ships were damaged in the strait near Taganrog. According to him, at least one of the ships damaged in the strike is a tanker, and one sailor has died.
The Ukrainian side also stated that a total of 76 tankers belonging to Russia’s “shadow fleet” have been hit over the last six days.
At the same time, according to information released by the “Reuters” agency, Russia has closed the Azov-Don shipping canal following the mass drone attack by Ukraine.
The agency notes that the Russian Border Service is no longer accepting new applications for ship passage through the canal connecting the Don River to the Sea of Azov. According to the report, vessel traffic in the Kerch Strait has also been temporarily suspended.
