The talks between Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and US President Donald Trump have begun at the Bestepe Presidential Complex in Ankara.
“Elchi” reports that this information was provided by the “TRT Haber” television channel.
Trump arrived at Ankara airport to participate in the NATO summit, where he was personally welcomed by Erdogan. During that time, brief discussions also took place between the presidents of the two countries.
According to Turkish media, the agenda for the talks between Erdogan and Trump includes the settlement of the conflict in Ukraine and the resumption of the negotiation process on the Turkish platform, cooperation in the defense industry—specifically the supply of $700 million worth of engines for the “Kaan” fighter jet to Turkey, the lifting of restrictions under the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA), and issues regarding Turkey’s return to the “F-35” fighter jet production program. The leaders of Turkey and the US also intend to discuss cooperation in the economic sphere, particularly the goal of increasing bilateral trade volume to $100 billion.
Following the bilateral meeting at Bestepe, Trump will join the leaders of NATO countries at an official dinner that will mark the start of the alliance’s summit.
