Israel planned to carry out an assassination attempt against the Iranian delegation during negotiations between Washington and Tehran.

It is noted in the article that, according to former and current US officials, during the negotiations that intensified in April, Israel tried to kill the delegation led by the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament, Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf.
US officials, fearing that if the mentioned individuals were killed, there would be no one left in Iran to conduct a dialogue, dissuaded Israel from this idea.
The Iranian side demanded guarantees from the US that the delegation would not be killed.
The Israeli embassy in Washington did not comment on the reports.
