Digital development is one of the main directions of our country’s strategic activity priorities. It is no secret that the consistent reforms implemented in this field increase the efficiency of public administration, improve the quality of services provided to citizens, and make a significant contribution to the sustainable development of our country. The holding of the first meeting of the Digital Development Council in our country under the chairmanship of First Vice-President Mehriban Aliyeva is also an important step showing that the state policy in the field of digital transformation is being consistently continued and a new stage has begun in this direction.
“Elchi” reports that these thoughts were expressed by Rashad Mahmudov, a member of the New Azerbaijan Party Board and a deputy of the Milli Majlis.
The deputy said that in her speech, the First Vice-President highlighted the priority directions of the digitalization process and touched upon the main tasks ahead in this field.
Mehriban khanim stated that today the first meeting of the Digital Development Council of the Republic of Azerbaijan is being held, and in February of the current year, a meeting dedicated to the country’s new digital development strategy was held under the chairmanship of President Ilham Aliyev, and an Action Plan for Digital Development was approved in accordance with the given instructions. A concrete Roadmap has been defined for the next three years that will ensure the development of digitalization, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the innovation ecosystem.
Mehriban khanim Aliyeva rightly stated that the main task of the Council is to coordinate the activities of state institutions, form a unified approach, and ensure the timely and effective implementation of the decisions taken. The main goal is to apply new technologies, at the same time give a strong impetus to the country’s economy, form a modern innovation ecosystem, attract local and foreign investments, support the development of startups, and create a more efficient public administration system.
The First Vice-President pointed out that artificial intelligence is already one of the main development factors of today. At the same time, its role in ensuring the security of states is increasing and is of strategic importance. It was also noted that the development of artificial intelligence in the world’s leading countries is progressing faster than expected forecasts, which creates both new opportunities and new risks. In this regard, the importance of being constantly prepared for existing and emerging challenges in the field of cybersecurity and information security was especially emphasized.
The deputy concluded by noting that, as Mehriban khanim Aliyeva stated, achieving the set goals requires coordinated, active, and effective activity of all state institutions. The goal is to turn Azerbaijan into one of the leading states in the region in the fields of digital development and artificial intelligence. For this, international experience should be studied, successful models should be used, and at the same time, all decisions should be made in accordance with Azerbaijan’s national interests and strategic needs.
All this once again confirms that digital transformation, in addition to being a strategic development course that shapes Azerbaijan’s future, is the main guarantee of the country’s innovative and sustainable development.
