British Prime Minister Starmer met with NATO Secretary General in London

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte met in London to discuss the NATO Summit to be held in Ankara on July 7-8, Ukraine, and the Strait of Hormuz.
elchi reports that according to a written statement from the Prime Minister’s Office at 10 Downing Street, Starmer and Rutte began their meetings in London by discussing the British government’s upcoming “Defense Investment Plan”.
Prime Minister Starmer stated that the plan will focus on readiness and autonomous capabilities, as well as ensuring that British forces have the necessary equipment to ensure the security of Great Britain and NATO allies.
Later, the leaders reviewed their recent diplomatic meetings, including the G7 Summit held in France, the E5 Meeting held in Germany, and Rutte’s visit to the USA.
The two leaders discussed the issue of strong international support for Ukraine and expressed their expectations regarding the results of the NATO Summit held in Ankara. The leaders stated that they agreed that Ukraine, which possesses one of Europe’s most powerful armed forces, will remain a “key part of European security” for a long time.
Starmer and Rutte also discussed the Strait of Hormuz and noted the necessity of ensuring the safe passage of global maritime transport. In addition, Prime Minister Starmer provided updated information on the British military presence in the region to support the multinational mission when conditions permit.
