Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan held a phone conversation with German Chancellor Friedrich Merz.

President Erdogan stated that further development of relations between Turkey and Germany is planned, and that continuing mutual steps is of great importance for this.
Speaking about the NATO Leaders’ Summit to be held in Ankara, the Turkish leader noted that he hopes the summit will demonstrate a strong political will to strengthen Europe’s defense capabilities within the alliance and preserve Transatlantic ties.
Erdogan also emphasized that Turkey continues its efforts to end the Russia-Ukraine war with a lasting peace: “Ankara is working towards restarting negotiations between the parties and revitalizing the diplomatic process.”
