Plenary session held within the framework of the Turkic World Week

A plenary session titled “The Turkic world as one family: activities of international Turkic cooperation organizations for common goals” has been held within the framework of the Turkic World Week, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress.

elchi reports that the President of the National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbayli, Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture Sultan Raev, President of the International Turkic Academy Shahin Mustafayev, and President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova delivered speeches at the session.

The President of the National Academy of Sciences, Academician Isa Habibbayli, stated that the First Turkological Congress defined the system and scientific model of Turkology for the first time in its era: “The program of the First Turkological Congress included extensive topics related to the Turkic world, such as monuments, prominent figures, history, and culture.”

Speaking next, the Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY), Sultan Raev, stated that the Turkic world is one big family. He emphasized that each of the organizations developing cooperation between Turkic states and peoples operates for the sake of unity, solidarity, and brotherhood.

In his speech, the President of the International Turkic Academy, Shahin Mustafayev, noted that the creation of common terminology in Turkic languages was one of the main goals of the First Turkological Congress: “Continuing our activities in this direction, we have implemented an important project. The project covers the terminology of Turkic languages across various fields. To date, an eight-volume terminological publication has been prepared within the framework of the project. This work will be continued consistently in the future.”

President of the Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation Aktoty Raimkulova announced that an international event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the First Turkological Congress will be held at the UNESCO headquarters in Paris.

At the end of the session, a group of cultural and public figures were awarded the “100th Anniversary of the First Turkological Congress (1926–2026)” commemorative badge.

Among the awardees were Academician Rafael Huseynov, Academician Nizami Jafarov, current Rector of Al-Farabi Kazakh National University Zhanseit Tuimebayev, President of the Atatürk Supreme Council for Culture, Language and History of Turkey Professor Derya Örs, President of the Turkish Language Association Osman Mert, Minister of Culture, Information, Sports and Youth Policy of the Kyrgyz Republic Altynbek Maksutov, and others.
