Official Baku has called on the Israeli government to reconsider its decision regarding the so-called “Armenian genocide”

The decision adopted by the Israeli government regarding the so-called “Armenian genocide” causes serious concern.

“Elchi” reports that this is stated in the commentary of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Azerbaijan regarding the decision adopted by the Israeli government on the so-called “Armenian genocide”.

It was stated that the distortion of historical truths regarding the events of 1915 and the transformation of complex historical processes into a subject of political decision-making, far from legal and scientific foundations, is unacceptable.

“Such steps do not serve reconciliation and mutual understanding, but rather the further deepening of existing contradictions, and hinder efforts for lasting peace and reconciliation in the region.

We call on the Israeli government to reconsider this decision.

Azerbaijan will continue to maintain its consistent position in defense of historical truths, respect for the principles of international law, and the promotion of lasting peace in the region,” the Ministry of Foreign Affairs noted in its statement.

It should be noted that the Israeli government has unanimously voted to officially recognize the “Armenian genocide”. According to Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Saar, the decision was adopted based on a draft resolution personally proposed by him.

“Recognizing the genocide committed against the Armenian people in the final years of the Ottoman Empire is both a moral and historical duty,” Saar noted.

The draft will be submitted to the agenda of the Knesset plenary session for a vote.
