Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko has called Ukraine a “pawn” in a big game.
“Elchi” reports that his remarks, made during a meeting with Moscow Region Governor Andrey Vorobyov, were cited by the “BelTA” agency.
“The issue is not about Ukraine at all. You know what the issue is and who is ultimately fighting whom. Therefore, it is necessary to understand the situation here and for someone to advance their interests somewhere. Neither we nor Russia need this conflict to continue,” Lukashenko said.
He declared the importance of peace, but emphasized that it is conditional upon full guarantees that the West will not “deceive” Russia and Belarus and will not “play games” with them. According to him, any deception against Moscow would primarily strike Minsk, as his country is located on the “front line of our Fatherland.”
