“Extreme heat” event in London cancelled due to extreme heat

The “Extreme Heat: Improving Management and Strengthening Global Action” event, planned as part of London Climate Action Week, has been cancelled due to the extreme heat affecting the entire country.
elchi reports that the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) announced that the event, which was scheduled to be held yesterday at the school’s Shaw Library as part of London Climate Action Week, was cancelled following a red-coded extreme heat warning issued by the UK Met Office.
The event was intended to discuss the importance of improving extreme heat management on a global scale, as well as the key challenges and opportunities in this area, and experts were to present their findings.

The extreme heatwave that has been affecting England since Sunday has intensified over the last 3 days.
Due to the extreme temperatures, there have been cancellations and widespread disruptions to many metro and train services since Tuesday, and people have been advised not to travel unless absolutely necessary.
The Met Office had warned that temperatures in many parts of England could reach 37 degrees Celsius on Wednesday, and 38 degrees Celsius on Thursday and Friday. The warning also stated that there was a possibility that temperatures could exceed these values.
