Red alert in England: Extreme heat brings life to a standstill

Temperatures in England are expected to reach 40 degrees Celsius, which will cause disruptions in transport and the closure of schools across the country.
“Elchi” reports that the Meteorological Office has issued a rare “red extreme heat warning” starting from Wednesday morning.
The warning covers a wide area from London to Somerset and Swansea, and further north to Birmingham.
Authorities stated that due to the “heat dome” affecting Western Europe, extremely high temperatures will be observed in some parts of England and Wales.
Infrastructure and daily life negatively affected
Railway company Network Rail has advised passengers to travel only if “absolutely necessary.”
Train services have been reduced and speed limits have been imposed to prevent the risk of rails buckling in the extreme heat.
Due to the increased demand for water caused by the heatwave, hosepipe bans have been implemented in Kent, Sussex, Surrey, Hampshire, and Berkshire. Government officials held a COBR (Cabinet Office Briefing Room) meeting to assess the situation. Hundreds of schools have closed early to protect students from the heat, and some have relaxed mandatory uniform requirements, allowing students to attend classes in sportswear. Health officials have warned that the current weather conditions could pose a threat to the general health of the population.
