The search continues in Texas to find a giraffe named “Gracie,” who escaped from a farm northwest of San Antonio about a week and a half ago. The farm owner reportedly offered a $5,000 reward for information leading to the safe capture and return of the animal.
elchi reports that Real County officials stated the giraffe was last seen on a hunting camera west of Leakey, approximately 160 kilometers northwest of San Antonio.
Escaped by Climbing an Eight-Meter Gate
Vic Jones, manager of Cedar Hollow Farm, said that Gracie is 3-4 years old and has been at the facility, which houses hundreds of animals, since May.
Jones stated that the giraffe left the farm after feeding on a hillside where other giraffes usually do not go, passing through an open gate that was approximately 8 meters high. Jones noted that based on the leads received, a search was conducted in an area about 6 kilometers from the farm, but no results were obtained because the photos accompanying the leads were taken several days ago. It was emphasized that the search efforts, in which local residents are also participating, will continue uninterrupted until Gracie returns home.
