On June 23, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and President of Turkmenistan Serdar Berdimuhamedov familiarized themselves with the progress of construction work at the Shusha Mosque.
“Elchi” reports that Assistant to the President Anar Alakbarov informed the heads of state of Azerbaijan and Turkmenistan about the work carried out at the mosque.
It was noted that the mosque, the foundation of which was laid by the President of Azerbaijan in 2021, is rising as a new modern symbol of the historic city.
Built in the shape of the number 8 as a symbol of Victory Day, the mosque will consist of main and administrative buildings, including ablution rooms for men and women. The mosque’s two 73-meter-high minarets will symbolize the number 11, representing the liberation of Shusha in the eleventh month of the year.
The exterior surface of this place of worship will be decorated with geometric patterns used on the minarets of the ancient mosque of Shusha. The construction of the mosque is being carried out with the support of “Pasha Holding”.
The newly built mosque is one of the important projects of restoration and construction work being carried out in the liberated territories of Azerbaijan, reflecting the revival of Karabakh and our people’s commitment to national and spiritual values.
