Trump says he will not be friends with Italian Prime Minister Meloni

US President Donald Trump has stated that he no longer wants to “be friends” with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

elchi reports that Trump wrote about this on his “Truth Social” account.

Trump stated that the Italian Prime Minister had repeatedly asked to take a picture with him during the G-7 summit in France.

The US President noted that Meloni’s popularity in Italy is declining: “Perhaps because she abandoned the United States (and NATO, by the way!), which sincerely loves and protects Italy, in the matter of preventing Iran from acquiring or developing nuclear weapons. She didn’t even allow us to use Italian runways, which creates a major logistical concern despite the United States spending hundreds of billions of dollars every year to defend Italy and other NATO allies. And now, after the US military victory over Iran, she wants to make friends again to ‘boost her numbers’. No, thank you!” Trump noted.

It should be noted that US President Donald Trump claimed that after the G7 summit held in France, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni begged him to take a picture together.

“She (Meloni) was begging me to take a picture together. She wanted it very much. I wouldn’t have done it, but I felt sorry for her. She probably feels happy because I talked to her. Because I am not obligated to talk to her,” Trump said.

Meloni responded to Trump’s claims. The Italian leader called the US President’s words fabricated.

“To be honest, I am horrified. I don’t know why the US President treats his allies this way. This is not the first time. Unfortunately, he does not show the same determination in his relations with the enemies of the West and the US; he treats them more kindly. He should remember one thing: Italy and I never beg.”
