Passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz remains under the control of the IRGC

The passage of ships through the Strait of Hormuz continues to be carried out in coordination with the Naval Forces of the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC).

“Elchi” reports that RIA Novosti disseminated this information citing Iran’s state television and radio company IRIB.

The statement broadcast on the TV channel noted that the crews of all ships passing through the Strait of Hormuz are still required to coordinate their routes with the Naval Forces of the IRGC.

Tehran announced on June 11 that the strait would be closed to shipping and clarified that this measure also applies to vessels that had previously received permission to pass through Hormuz. Iran added that this order will remain in effect until a special notice regarding its cancellation is issued. No such notice has been received yet.
