Minister: Creation of farms smaller than five hectares is not permitted

We have set a minimum cultivated area target for the land offered to farmers, which is 5 hectares.

“Elchi” reports that the Minister of Agriculture, Majnun Mammadov, stated this in an interview with AzTV, ARB TV, and AZERTAC.

The minister noted that the creation of farms smaller than five hectares is not permitted:

“Therefore, sometimes farmers, due to having small plots of land, unite to form cooperatives or family peasant farms and farming enterprises. Several cooperatives and family peasant farms have already been established in various villages, and those lands are being allocated to them. I can cite Agali as an example, where 32 farmers united to form three cooperatives. 51.6 hectares of land have been allocated to them, and contracts have been signed. Work in this direction is also being carried out in all other villages.”
