Kuwait is discussing the possibility of exporting its oil through the pipeline systems of Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) against the backdrop of the crisis in the Persian Gulf.
“Elchi” reports that this was stated by Sheikh Nawaf Saud Nasir Al-Sabah, CEO of Kuwait Petroleum Corporation, at an energy forum held at the Atlantic Council in Washington.
“We are in talks with our brothers in Saudi Arabia and the UAE on how to expand their pipeline system so that it can accommodate Kuwaiti barrels,” he said.
The head of the corporation noted that the countries of the Gulf Cooperation Council are working together more than ever, trying to respond to challenges collectively. He clarified that there is a mutual assistance mechanism within the council, according to which, if one country cannot export oil, another carries it out on its behalf with subsequent mutual settlement. However, in the current situation where no one has free export capacity, the countries of the region are working on options for expanding pipeline infrastructure.
