Poland has submitted an official proposal to the US to establish a permanent military base on the territory of the republic.
“Elchi” reports that this was announced by Polish Defense Minister Władysław Kosiniak-Kamysz.
“I have submitted an official proposal to US Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth regarding the establishment of a new permanent US military base in Poland,” Kosiniak-Kamysz wrote on the “X” social network.
Approximately 10,000 US troops are stationed in Poland, primarily on a rotational basis. On May 19, Sean Parnell, the US Assistant Secretary of Defense for Public Affairs, announced a delay in the rotation of US forces in Poland. Later, American leader Donald Trump stated that the US would send an additional 5,000 military personnel to the country, “taking into account the successful re-election of Poland’s current president, Karol Nawrocki,” whose campaign he supports. However, the American leader did not specify exactly which units of the US Armed Forces would go to Poland, whether they would be redirected from other European countries, or whether this meant the resumption of troop transfers within the framework of rotation.
