SOCAR and SLB are collaborating on a project to redevelop the ‘Bahar’ field, one of Azerbaijan’s oldest oil and gas fields.
elchi reports that this was stated by Steve Gassen, Executive Vice President of Geographies at SLB, during the “Leaders’ Insights: Energy Transformation and Future Strategies” session at the Baku Energy Forum.
According to him, ‘Bahar’ is a mature field with a long production history, and its development presents various challenges.
S. Gassen stated that the company, together with SOCAR, is evaluating opportunities for the redevelopment of the field and is utilizing AI-based digital technologies for this purpose.
“We are developing new approaches for field development by applying AI-supported geological modeling and subsurface analysis solutions. The goal is to unlock the project’s development potential and facilitate investment decision-making,” he noted.
According to the SLB official, creating new and more resilient energy supply chains is essential for ensuring energy security, and technology and collaboration play a key role in this process.
S. Gassen added that the company also continues its cooperation with bp in Azerbaijan. According to him, the application of artificial intelligence and digital technologies in the ACG fields helps increase production efficiency and optimize drilling costs.
