To prevent a decline in production levels at the “Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli” field, 4D seismic surveys are being conducted to understand the current state of the reservoirs.
“Elchi” reports that BP’s Regional President for Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Turkey, Gio Kristofoli, stated this in his remarks to journalists.
He noted that this five-year program is being carried out to understand the current state of the reservoirs and to determine the direction in which water, oil, and gas are moving within them:
“Furthermore, artificial intelligence is used to clean up noise in the seismic data. This information determines where future oil production wells will be drilled. At the same time, this data allows us to know how to consolidate scattered oil reserves by injecting water or gas in specific directions and where to drill to extract them.”
