Over 50 village names have been changed in Azerbaijan in the last 10 years

The process of restoring toponyms in Azerbaijan continues. In the last 10 years, the names of more than 50 villages have been changed.

“Elchi” reports that these remarks were made by the president of ANAS, academician Isa Habibbayli, at a national conference held with the participation of young people on the topic “Mother tongue: identity and future”.

 

He stated that new place names are being adopted by the Toponymy Commission under the Milli Majlis. Recently, the names of 3 villages in the Guba district have been updated.
