On June 5, monitoring will be organized for the 4th grades of general education institutions in the capital, and on June 6 for the 6th grades.
This was reported to elchi by the Baku City Education Department.
It was stated that the main purpose of conducting the monitoring is to achieve improvement in student achievements, to determine the level of knowledge and skills formed according to relevant standards, and to implement measures to increase the quality of education.
Monitoring in the 4th grades will be conducted in the subjects of language of instruction and mathematics, and in the 6th grades in the subjects of language of instruction, science, and mathematics.
In the 112 examination centers allocated for monitoring across the capital, more than 49,000 4th-grade students and more than 49,000 6th-grade students from both Azerbaijani and Russian sections will test their knowledge.
4th-grade students will be presented with 28 closed-ended and 2 open-ended written questions for the language of instruction subject, and 25 closed-ended, 3 open-ended non-solution coded, and 2 open-ended written questions requiring solutions for the mathematics subject. 6th-grade students will be presented with 23 closed-ended and 2 open-ended written questions for the language of instruction subject, 25 closed-ended questions for the science subject, and 20 closed-ended, 3 open-ended non-solution coded, and 2 open-ended written questions requiring solutions for the mathematics subject. 4th-grade students will be given 150 minutes to answer the questions, and 6th-grade students will be given 180 minutes.
Monitoring results do not affect students’ summative assessment scores, nor do they affect their promotion from one grade to another.
It should be noted that a total of 7,344 students in institutions under the Baku City Education Department are expected to participate in computer-based monitoring.
