On May 22, a meeting was held between the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Jeyhun Bayramov, and the Secretary-General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD), Rebeca Grynspan.
According to the information provided to elchi by the MFA, the current state and development prospects of cooperation between Azerbaijan and UNCTAD were discussed during the meeting.
The parties exchanged views on cooperation opportunities in the fields of sustainable development, international trade, investment promotion, digital transformation, green economy, and the integration of developing countries into global economic processes.
Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, emphasizing the importance Azerbaijan attaches to multilateral cooperation, provided information about the initiatives implemented by our country in the directions of regional connectivity, transport and logistics capabilities, energy security, and the climate agenda.
Rebeca Grynspan expressed her satisfaction with the development of cooperation between UNCTAD and Azerbaijan and highly appreciated Azerbaijan’s growing role in regional economic cooperation and connectivity projects. She emphasized the importance of expanding joint projects in the fields of trade and development within the framework of UNCTAD.
During the meeting, the Azerbaijan-Armenia normalization process in the post-conflict period, reconstruction and construction works in our liberated territories, as well as the situation in the Middle East and the impact of the current tension on the global economy and trade were discussed.
Other regional and international issues of mutual interest were also discussed during the meeting.
