UK Ambassador to Iran, Hugo Shorter, has been summoned to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA).
elchi reports, citing IRIB, that the reason for this is Iran’s accusation regarding the incident that occurred around the “RAF Fairford” (Royal Air Force Fairford) airbase.
“In response to the baseless claim by London’s high-ranking officials attributing the alleged incident at the “Fairford” military base to Iran, the UK ambassador to Tehran, Hugo Shorter, was summoned and the Islamic Republic’s strong protest regarding the irresponsible approach towards Iran was conveyed to him,” the statement said.
Alireza Yusifi, Director General of the MFA’s Western Europe Department, rejected London’s claim against Iran.
It should be recalled that the Iranian MFA issued a statement regarding this yesterday. Iran’s Ambassador to the UK, Seyed Ali Mousavi, also denied any connection of his country to the incident around the “Fairford” airbase during his meeting with Stephen Douty, the UK Minister of State for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan, and Pakistan, on October 12.
