Russian President Vladimir Putin stated that the Russia-China strategic alliance plays an important and stabilizing role on the global stage, adding: “We are not building an alliance against anyone; on the contrary, we are working for peace and universal prosperity.”
“Elchi” reports that, according to the Kremlin, Putin addressed the Chinese people via video before his official visit to China.
Expressing his pleasure at visiting Beijing once again, Putin emphasized that regular mutual visits and high-level Russia-China meetings are an essential part of joint efforts to develop relations between the two countries and unlock their unlimited potential.
Recalling that Russia and China signed the “Treaty of Good-Neighborliness, Friendship and Cooperation” 25 years ago, Putin said: “Today, Russia-China relations have reached a truly unprecedented level.” Putin stated that Russia and China look to the future with confidence and are actively developing ties in the fields of politics, economy, and defense, emphasizing that the two countries are working together to deepen bilateral cooperation and support the comprehensive development of their nations.
Putin expressed his sincere appreciation for Chinese President Xi Jinping’s commitment to long-term cooperation with Russia, adding: “I believe that our good and friendly relations help to define and implement the most ambitious plans for the future.”
Noting that the Russia-China trade volume has already exceeded 200 billion dollars and continues to grow, Putin recalled that almost all mutual payments are carried out in rubles and yuan. Putin stated that significant initiatives are being implemented in the key areas of cooperation between the two countries.
Wishing for the further rapprochement of the Russian and Chinese peoples, Putin recalled that a mutual visa-free regime for travel has been introduced between the two countries. Explaining the importance of the alliance between the two countries, Putin said: “The close Russia-China strategic alliance plays an important and stabilizing role on the global stage. At the same time, we are not building an alliance against anyone; on the contrary, we are working for peace and universal prosperity.” In this spirit, Putin noted that Moscow and Beijing fully support international law and the provisions of the United Nations Charter, and by continuing active cooperation through the United Nations, the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, BRICS, and other multilateral structures, they are making a significant joint contribution to solving urgent global and regional problems.
