Dialogue with the US does not mean capitulation.
elchi reports that Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian wrote this on his “X” social media account.
“The Islamic Republic of Iran enters into dialogue with dignity, prestige, and by protecting the rights of the nation, and will under no circumstances retreat from the legitimate rights of its people and country,” he stated.
According to Pezeshkian, the government will serve the people: “We will serve the people with all our might, until our last breath, and we will protect Iran’s interests.”
It should be noted that in recent days, reports have been circulating in foreign media that the US, together with Israel, will resume attacks on Iran. The latest such report was published in “Axios“, citing the White House’s rejection of Iran’s peace proposal as the reason.
Recall that on February 28, the US and Israel launched military operations against Iran, and airstrikes were carried out on a number of cities. On that same day, Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei was killed as a result of the strikes. In response, Iran launched missile attacks on Israeli territory and attacked US military bases in Persian Gulf countries.
Iran, the US, and their allies reached a ceasefire agreement on the night of April 8. Trump later extended the ceasefire for an indefinite period.
The parties held talks in Pakistan to resolve the conflict, but the first round held on April 11-12 yielded no results.
To pressure Tehran, the US has blockaded Iranian ports and passage through the Strait of Hormuz. In turn, Iran has announced a blockade of the Strait of Hormuz for ships heading to the Persian Gulf. The dynamically changing situation in the region has caused a global energy crisis.
