With the support of the Ministry of Science and Education of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, and organized by the Baku Contemporary Music Society, the “4th Baku Contemporary Music Days” Festival will be held from May 18 to 24.
“Elchi” reports that local and foreign composers and performers active in the field of contemporary music will come together once again. The mission of this year’s festival is also to strengthen our country’s representation in the world of contemporary music.
During the festival, which will last from May 18 to 24, works by 20th-21st century composers included in the program will be performed by local musical groups such as the Cadenza Orchestra, the BCMS ensemble, soloists, as well as prestigious contemporary music ensembles like Catinblack, C 2 E 2 Ensemble, and invited soloists and speakers from various countries – Szilard Benes, Aleksey Potapov, Rachel Walker, and others.
The festival program consists of morning, afternoon, and evening sessions and is open to the public. Within the framework of the program, workshops, lectures, and evening concerts will be held in leading concert halls such as the International Mugham Center, the Azerbaijan State Museum of Musical Culture, the Museum Center, and the Gara Garayev House Museum, open to both professional musicians and anyone interested in contemporary music. The program covers nearly 40 works, including world premieres. Some of the works to be performed were written specifically for this festival.
On the final day of the Baku Contemporary Music Days Festival, a film about one of the influential world composers, Morton Feldman, prepared with subtitles in the Azerbaijani language, will traditionally be screened. Registration is required in advance for entry to this event (seats are limited).
