My participation in the summit clearly shows that peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia is a reality.
elchi reports that President Ilham Aliyev stated this in his video address at the European Political Community summit held in Armenia.
“During the visit of the President of the European Council, António Costa, to Azerbaijan, we discussed my participation in the summit and agreed that I would join in a video format. I would also like to inform the audience that a year ago, during my meeting with President Costa and President von der Leyen, they asked for my opinion on the idea of holding the summit in Armenia in May 2026. I supported this initiative and, in turn, proposed that one of the next summits be held in Azerbaijan to maintain a balanced approach. The proposal was accepted, and therefore I invite the members to Azerbaijan in May 2028. By the way, Armenia also supported our candidacy. This clearly shows that peace between Azerbaijan and Armenia is a reality,” the head of state said.
