The U.S. National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) has suspended the “Gateway” station project near the Moon.
According to “Elchi”, NASA head Jared Isaacman announced this at a conference held in Washington.
He stated that NASA will focus on building a base on the surface of Earth’s natural satellite.
“Our decision to suspend Gateway in its current form and to focus on infrastructure that supports a long-term presence on the lunar surface should not surprise anyone,” he said.
Isaacman clarified that NASA will dedicate the resources previously allocated for the “Gateway” station to this effort, despite a number of serious equipment and schedule challenges.
“A base on the Moon will not appear overnight. We will invest approximately 20 billion dollars over the next seven years and build it over dozens of missions,” NASA head added.
