“On the occasion of April 4 – International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action, Azerbaijan reaffirms its commitment to eliminating the severe humanitarian impacts caused by mines.”
“Elchi” reports that this is stated in a statement published on the “X” account of Azerbaijan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The statement says:
“In Azerbaijan, mines and unexploded ordnance continue to pose a serious threat to human lives, hinder reconstruction efforts, and impede the safe return of internally displaced persons.
Azerbaijan remains among the most affected countries by mine contamination.
We call on the international community to strengthen humanitarian mine action activities and assistance to victims.
A future free from mines is of vital importance for sustainable peace, development, and human security.”
