MES appealed to the public regarding weather conditions

The Ministry of Emergency Situations (MES) has appealed to the public regarding the expected weather conditions.

This was reported to “Elchi” by the press service of the MES.

“According to the National Hydrometeorology Service, starting from today, in the coming days, rainy weather is expected throughout the country, with intense precipitation in some areas, short-term floods and overflows in some mountain rivers, intense and intermittently strengthening rains affecting flood-prone areas around Baku, lightning, and intermittently strengthening winds,” the statement said.

The Ministry of Emergency Situations appealed to the public, calling on them to comply with relevant safety rules:

“Thus, to protect against flooding caused by intense precipitation, as well as floods and overflows, it is recommended to stay away from dangerous areas, if faced with such a danger, immediately climb to a nearby high ground, and strictly follow the calls and recommendations of rescuers.

Also, during strong winds, it is recommended to stay away from light-structured and temporary buildings, building and advertising boards, and not to stand under electricity poles and wires, or tall trees. Considering the difficulties caused by strong winds in extinguishing fires, fire safety rules must be strictly observed in windy weather conditions. In addition, small vessel users should consider that it is forbidden to go to sea in such weather conditions.”

At the same time, to protect against lightning-related dangers, it is necessary to disconnect electrical appliances from the network, avoid talking on the phone (landline, mobile, payphone, etc.), when outdoors, do not approach power lines, lightning rods, gutters, and antennas, do not take shelter under tall trees and for this purpose choose a relatively low-lying area, and if in a car, stop the movement, raise the windows, and wait for the lightning to pass.
