Canada is not raising the issue of obtaining full membership in the European Union (EU).
“Elchi” reports that Canadian Foreign Minister Anita Anand stated this.
“We are not seeking to become a full member of the European Union. At this stage, we are not giving any specific name to our relations with the EU,” she noted at a joint press conference held in Ottawa.
According to Anand, ahead of the Canada-EU summit to be held in Montreal at the end of October, the parties are discussing “deepening relations.” This involves closer integration in areas such as the development of artificial intelligence technologies, the processing of critical minerals, as well as defense and security.
