13 people, including 3 army officers, have died as a result of a military plane crash in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
“Elchi” reports, citing the “Reuters” agency, that this was stated by the Vice-Governor of Kwango province, Remi Saki Bokinda.
According to him, the plane experienced a technical malfunction while flying from the city of Kikwit, located in the southwest of the country, to the capital, Kinshasa. The crew attempted to land in the city of Kenge, but due to the lack of a runway there, the plane crashed in a residential area.
“Because there is no runway in Kenge, the plane crashed into a residential area,” Bokinda said.
He noted that among those on board were General Likulia Bakumi, the army’s chief auditor, as well as a major, a captain, other military personnel, and civilians.
The circumstances of the crash are being investigated.
