Baku prepares for the “International Carpet Festival 2026”

The next “International Carpet Festival” will take place in Baku on May 1-3, 2026.

Information on this was provided to “Elchi” by “Azerkhalcha” OJSC.

It was stated that the main goal of the festival is to promote Azerbaijani carpet weaving art on a global scale, showcase its rich heritage and future development prospects, and benefit from the experience and skills of carpet weavers worldwide.

The festival will open on May 1 with the International Carpet Forum, held at the Baku Business Center, with the main theme “Carpet Industry: Value, Design, and Competitiveness.” The forum will bring together leading international experts, designers, manufacturers, researchers, exporters, and creative industry representatives from the carpet industry.

On May 2-3, the festival will continue in the historic streets of Icherisheher, with ancient caravanserais, squares, and historic houses hosting carpet exhibitions, master classes, and musical events. Representatives from various countries around the world will present their carpet weaving traditions in national pavilions to be set up in Gosha Gala Square. Additionally, exhibitions by several famous foreign and local artists will take place in galleries located in Icherisheher.

It should be noted that this year, the Carpet Festival, dedicated to the professional holiday of Azerbaijani carpet weavers, “Carpet Weaver’s Day,” also coincides with the 10th anniversary of “Azerkhalcha” OJSC.

During the festival days, exclusive exhibitions on carpet weaving art, master classes, concert programs, and special educational activities for children will be organized.

Anyone wishing to participate in the 3-day carpet celebration can get detailed information about the Festival from the bakucarpetfest.az website and the bakucarpetfest Instagram page. For additional questions, it is possible to contact the email address info@bakucarpetfest.az.

To jointly preserve and promote the rich tradition of carpet art to the world, we invite everyone to the Baku “International Carpet Festival” in Icherisheher on May 1-3!
