The US and Denmark are in talks about the future of Greenland.
Elchi.az reports that Bloomberg reported this.
It is reported that the parties are trying to take into account the US’s desire for a stronger presence in the Arctic, but at the same time, they do not intend to violate Denmark’s sovereignty and raise the issue of Greenland’s transfer to the US.
It is recalled that the talks took place after Donald Trump announced last week that “the framework of a future agreement” had been reached. This process is also seen as an attempt to ease political tensions around Greenland.
According to Bloomberg’s sources, the US is trying to expand its role in the region’s security and is no longer demanding that Denmark fully transfer its sovereign rights to the island.
